Toddler shoots mom dead while on a zoom meeting

While on a zoom call, a mother was shot dead by her toddler who picked up a loaded gun.

Shamaya Lynn, 21, from Florida, was partaking part in the conference call on Wednesday, August 11, when suddenly the other participants heard a huge bang and the mum fell backwards.

Altamonte Springs Police said the other participants on the Zoom meeting saw a toddler in the background who had picked a gun that was left unsecured in the background.

When Lynn failed to get back onto the call, one of her colleagues taking part in the call called emergency services and the mum’s body was found with a shot to the head.

One of her colleagues alerted the emergency service when Lynn failed to get back on to the call and she was found dead with a headshot.

The police statement said:

“Investigators determined that the injury was caused by a toddler who found a loaded handgun, which was left unsecured by an adult in the apartment,”

The Florida TV channel WESH narrated that Lynn was the mother of the child and the toddler’s dad owns the gun.

Officer Roberto Ruiz, Jr warned the public in a TV clip:

“To anyone and everyone tuning in to this story if you own a firearm please keep it locked and secured.

“Incidents like this can be avoided.”

According to WESH, the couple also has another child and both are currently in the care of relatives.

Police are still investigating the case and are consulting with the Seminole County State Attorney’s Office if the father, the gun owner, should be facing charges.
