The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq has stated that based on analysis made, the FG has spent over $5bn since 2016 fighting poverty nationally.

The statement was made during the presentation of letters of engagement to 248(two hundred and forty eight) monitors of the NSIP(National Social Investment Scheme) program in Adamawa State last weekend. furthermore, the newly inducted were also offered electronic tablets.

The minister was represented by the National Coordinator of NSIP, Dr Umar Bindir, in his statement, Bindir made it known that the president Mohammadu Buhari has since 2016 kept to his pledge of pulling 100million citizens out of poverty, this he made possible by committing $1bn to the NSIP scheme to reduce inequality and poverty.

Mrs Farouq supported her speech by stating that the data represented in the Presidents Democracy day speech is factual as the government of Muhammadu Buhari has removed from poverty over 7.5million citizens of the federation.

“I am happy to report to you this day that the President Muhammadu Buhari has since the year 2016 approved the annual funding of the NSIP scheme to the sum of $1bn. this has he kept up with till this year 2021”
