Victor Osimhen

Osimhen racially oppressed in Napoli victory

After Napoli’s 2-1 triumph in the Italian Serie A on Sunday – their seventh consecutive league win of the season – Super Eagles attacker Victor Osimhen was racially insulted by Fiorentina supporters.

According to accounts, supporters of the host team racially insulted the Nigerian striker, Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly, and Cameroon’s Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

According to DAZN, the midfielder and Osimhen were racially insulted after Napoli beat them 2-1 at the Artemio Franchi, and they replied by smiling. In terms of Koulibaly, the defender was insulted during the post-game interview, and he was even referred to as a “monkey.”

Koulibaly heard that and glanced at the perpetrator, wondering whether he actually said it. When he returned to the locker room, numerous spectators chanted obscenities at the defender.

This comes just a few weeks after AC Milan goalie Mike Maignan was subjected to racial taunts during Milan’s game against Juventus.
The Nigerian, on the other hand, has criticized the fans’ actions and advised parents to talk to their children.

“Talk to your kids, help them realize how terrible it is to hate someone because of the colour of their skin #NOTORACISM,” Osimhen tweeted.
