Eko on show: Teni-Davido-K1 and others brace up Friday event
Preparations are on for the first edition of Eko on Show, a musical, fashion, and cultural extravaganza organised by the Lagos State Government to commemorate Nigeria’s 61st Independence Day.
The event is set to take place tomorrow, Friday, October 15th, in Muri-Okunola Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to a statement from the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, the event would be unforgettable for Lagosians and fun seekers since A-list Nigerian musicians have signalled their willingness to play for the enjoyment of all guests.
They have also promised Lagosians and Nigerians the greatest entertainment that Lagos has been known for throughout the years.
Davido, Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr, Teni, and D’banj are among the artists scheduled to play at the open-air event, while legendary musicians such as Dede, Kwam 1, and Shina Peters will also make special appearances.
Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer, confirmed her attendance at the upcoming event and urged Nigerians to expect the finest entertainment from her at the performance.
“I can’t wait to show the people on ‘Eko on Show,’ see you guys on October 15th,” Teni said.
Speaking on the October 15 event, the famed female Talking Drummer, Araoluwa, stated, “We are extremely delighted to have this festival in Lagos now, it’s long-awaited since we have been shut down for too long and so we’re really elated.”
Lanre Da Silva Ajayi, a Nigerian fashion designer and founder of her namesake label, will also be present as part of the event to display some of her eponymous line, which includes couture, ready-to-wear, jewelries, hairpieces, metallic fabrics, lace, and African patterns, among other things.
There will also be an exhibition of classic artworks by Nike Art Gallery, which is perhaps the largest of its type in West Africa, with a collection of around 8,000 varied artworks by various Nigerian artists.
It should be noted that earlier, at the event’s launch at Muri-Okunola Park on Victoria Island, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Pharm. Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, stated that the exhibition is one of the routes Lagos State is utilising to promote the State’s rich potentials to the globe.
Eko on Show is an entertainment event that aims to gradually restore activity to the entertainment industry following the implementation of COVID-19 while simultaneously commemorating Nigeria’s 61st anniversary of independence.
