On Thursday, FIFA President Mr Gianni Infantino and his African counterpart, Dr Patrice Motsepe, made a courtesy call on President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

During his visit to the White House, Nigeria’s president was given a number 10 shirt and a football.

The No. 10 jersey is legendary in football, and it is typically worn by talented players who have a significant impact on a team.

Pele, Diego Maradona, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldinho, and Lionel Messi, who presently plays for PSG in Ligue 1, France, are among the famous footballers that wore Number 10 jerseys.

Sunday Dare, Minister of Sports, and Amaju Pinnick, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, were also present.

On Wednesday, the FIFA and CAF presidents attended the kickoff of the Aisha Buhari Cup in Lagos State.


Motsepe will also meet with various stakeholders in Nigeria to discuss the advancement of football in Africa, particularly women’s football development, according to a CAF release.

Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, and Mamoutou Toure, President of the Mali Football Association, are also in attendance.

The competition includes women’s national teams from Nigeria, Mali, Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco, and South Africa, as well as some of Africa’s best female footballers.
