President Muhammadu Buhari assured Nigerians that he is working towards ensuring that insecurity is crushed before he leaves office.
Buhari who spoke in an exclusive interview by the Nigerian Television Authority NTA said
“If we don’t secure the country vastly, people will not invest”. That was why those who organized the EndSARS protest, I sent all their ministers back to their own constituencies. Constitutionally, the ministers represent their state. I said they should go to their states to speak to the governors, political leaders, traditional leaders and most importantly they should speak to the youths that the federal government has no vacancy virtually every department is filled.”
The President further about the last year EndSARS protest, bemoaned the destruction of government’s property by the protesters.
Buhari also stated when the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu visited him with a photo album of destruction recorded in the state during the protests, he told him to let “Lagosians to walk, because we don’t have the money.”
“The present governor made an album and came to see me. I said ‘Thank you very much’. I took the album, put it in my archives and I told him to tell the Lagosians to walk, because we don’t have the money,” he said.
“After an administration bought over 200 buses, for some people to come and burn it? So, let them walk.”
President Buhari promised that all those financing terrorism in the country will be dealt with by his administration.
He stated that any individual apprehended for financing acts of terror will be dealt with and made to face the law.
“Their motive is that they are made relevant and they want to use their resources they accumulated over the years to prove that they are still around and the administration will deal with them. Anybody caught will be dealt with.
The President also stated his administration has tried in the area of rehabilitating roads, railways and power.
